chisel starter set of four wood chisels (3/6/12/24 mm) in a canvas roll-up tool bag
Hosco created a chisel starter set focused towards guitar building and repair with a nice roll-up tool bag included. They selected essential and popular blade widths and offer a set of four Japanese factory-made Tataki-Nomi chisels.
These files are made from steel with a high carbon content (HRC 63). The higher the hardness, the lower the elasticity. For this reason chisels with diverse hardness exist, capable of adapting to different types of wood. The hardest steels (HRC 60-65) are intended for the work on harder and/or resinous woods that are common on guitars.
The set contains the following size chisels:
– 3mm (suitable for ie. cleaning the nut slot on ST/TL type guitars)
– 6mm (suitable for ie. carving a channel for the truss rod)
– 12mm (suitable for ie. carving pickup cavities, neck joints and bracings)
– 24mm (suitable for carving larger surfaces like finetuning neck and bridge shape)
These chisels have a wooden handle and each one has a total length of 22,5cm.
The roll-up tool bag is a traditional Japanese tool bag made from navy canvas/cotton. It features 16 pockets with two different height pockets (4 or 7cm) so you can store more short or longer tools apart from the chisels. The overall dimensions for the bag are 50x40cm.
